A Living Wage for Lewisham

Lewisham Workers Need a Pay Rise

In times when cuts and the cost of living are making it hard for working people to make ends meet and to feed their families, we urge all businesses in Lewisham to pay the London Living Wage of £8.80 an hour.

The living wage will not only benefit hardworking people, but also give a much needed boost to the local economy when small businesses and local shops need it most.

It is still not the ideal wage when you consider the cost of living and travelling in London however, it is better than some people have to live or should I say “exist” on now.

The economy needs spenders not tax avoiders. A living wage will add so much more spending power to people who have to spend in order to live from day to day.

Labour should be more proud of its achievements in Lewisham. Making it the FIRST Living Wage Authority in the UK!
