Profits Threaten Public Services

Local Councillors Demand Action

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a free trade and investment agreement currently being negotiated – in secret – between the European Union and the USA. The main goal is to remove regulations which currently restrict the potential profits of large multinational corporations. In other words TTIP further opens up public services – including hospitals and the NHS - to private companies motivated by profit rather than people.

Hard won democratic, social and environmental laws are all at risk from TTIP.

If TTIP goes through, it will increase corporate power and allow multinationals to sue governments if profits are threatened. It will make it more difficult for individual governments to regulate markets for public benefit. As you local ward councillors we urge you to join us in taking action now.
